Bastille Day here is like croissants -- it just doesn't have the right flavor, the right texture, the right shine. It's simply not home. So this year, we'll head for a good old California night at LACMA, to enjoy Friday jazz with exhibits, and pourquoi pas? a glass of Champagne.photo Google Images

Made the mistake of trying to watch the fireworks from the top of Sacré-Coeur last night. Big mistake. Wall of people. Couldn't see a thing and had toes stepped on. Think I would actually have preferred to be sipping champagne at the Friday night jazz night at LACMA
I hear you La Page. Fireworks are like the Défilé on the Champs -- better watched on TV. But nothing beats the "bals du 14 juillet" in the non-touristy neighborhood/village bistrots.
