Downtown Observed

Earlier this month, the French daily Libération published a great piece on the multiple facets of Los Angeles' Downtown Confidentiel:
Longtemps dénigré, le centre de Los Angeles se recompose en un ensemble improbable où s'étalent buildings et villas mégalos, quartiers déglingués et décors à la James Ellroy [more]

Using terms such as pharaonesque, B-movie, crazy, romantic, greazy and preppy, the article is a tribute to the richness and variety of Downtown. An area of meta-urban L.A., often discarded as Hell entangled in thoroughfares -- when it's actually a fascinating kaleïdoscope well worth checking out, again and again.
