At Last

California is to become the fourth U.S. state to ban motorists from holding cell phones while driving, as reported in the L.A. Times. Europe has long outlawed driving under cell influence, favoring road safety over telecorp privilege.

It's about time we follow suit. I'm tired of near-misses with distracted maniacs, who then have the nerve to shout "Can't you see I'm on the f...ing phone?!" Nice to know they'll soon be back at the wheel -- even if it's not before 2008, and in a ban-lite version.
