Bad Trip

Humor doesn't travel well. Especially across cultures. The Onion is a case in point. The satirical paper arrived in Los Angeles a few weeks ago, and I have tried to read, and decrypt, every issue. My [American] friends love it. I just don't get it.
It's like Saturday Night Live. Jimmy Fallon once asked whether SNL was broadcast in Europe, then remarked, "Even if they get it, they don't get it, know what I mean?" Indeed. Conversely, S.O. doesn't get the satire of the French paper Charlie Hebdo, or TV show Les Guignols -- while I ROTFL. It's really cultural.
