Everyone heard about the infamous California black-outs. And Euros visiting California often remark on the electric poles lining up the streets like platanes on a French country road. It's part of the local landscape. Here's a close-up on our low tech, expensive, dysfunctional electrical grid. Sometimes, I do miss EDF.
