L.A. Kitsch

Ever wondered what a tsunami would do to our beaches? Escape from L.A. imagined it. Inspired by the 1994 Northridge earthquake, the movie draws the doomsday-ish portrait of a futuristic, decadent L.A. Orwell meets noir, with goofiness in lieu of talent: great concept, but poor script, lousy acting and exceedingly kitsch FX.
Still, the scene where surfer dude Peter Fonda and "hero" Kurt Russell catch a tsunami wave on Dick Dale music to chase Steve Buscemi's vintage car is a piece of anthology. Did I mention kitsch?
