Okies Go West

Three childhood friends from Oklahoma City moved to L.A. in the 1950s to develop a creative career: artist Ed Ruscha, photographer Jerry McMillan, and writer/musician Mason Williams. They were reunited at the Getty yesterday to share their stories and memories of the art scene at the time. Great anecdotes, capers [dadaist pranks], and deadpan okie humor that flew right over the earnest interviewer's head. A fun evening.
