Classic East Coast Myopia

Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter on Charlie Rose, discussing how enthusiastic he is about life. About Hollywood, asks Rose?
Not really. I mean, I love movies [but] I find Los Angeles particularly, sort of, not [a] soulless place, but I find it just very much, it's like Wall Street, for all business. [Rose: It's a one-company town, like Washington ...] Yeah. Nobody seems to have that much fun. Nobody drinks, nobody smokes -- except Anjelica Huston -- and, err, nobody seems to have great fun out there.
A boring, one-company town, huh? What a worn-out cliché. Fact: we don't work in the Hollywood industry, nor do 90% of our friends and contacts. We also drink -- and have great fun living in a fascinating, "experimental" city called Los Angeles. And we're not even weirdos.
