Adieu, Roquefort

In retaliation against the E.U. ban of American hormone-treated beef, the U.S. has hiked its tariffs on French cheese imports from 100% to 300%, reports Libération. Enough for Roquefort producers -- already hurting from the previous tax rate -- to bail out of the U.S. market altogether. The 400 tons imported annually will soon disappear from local shelves. Time to hit the store and check Roquefort recipes for a grand finale -- or simply crack a baguette with the last piece of cherished bleu and a ballon de rouge.
