Restoring America's Dignity

Who said Obama is all words but no action? All about grand ideas but with no real plan? Two days in office, and he has already made key decisions on the domestic and international fronts. Among them, closing down Guantanamo and freezing military trials have sent a strong message to the world that America is getting its dignity -- and decency -- back. How refreshing to feel proud of this country again.

These prisoner collars above, found in Guantanamo, are a chilling symbol of the appalling depths to which the previous administration had taken the country -- and what it stands for -- in the name of the "War on Terror." Investigative journalist Jane Mayer gives a gripping account of the Bushies' madness, and systematic trampling of constitutional and international laws, in "The Dark Side: The Inside Story of How the War on Terror Turned Into a War on American Ideals."
