Putting The Tourist Guide Hat On

Not much work or web-two-point-o-ing planned in the coming days: we are hosting Euro visitors. Unlike other big cities, you cannot set first time tourists loose in L.A. with a map of public transport, and tell them "Have fun, see you tonight!" Our beloved La-La-Land is just too sprawled, and its public transport is, ahem, still an issue in progress. So "baby-sitting" is de rigueur, especially when visitors only come for a few days, with a list of things they want to see and do that is simply impossible to cram in the time frame.

It's a 24/7 job -- or rather 18/3, as we intend to treat them to California wine every night, secretly hoping it will knock them down while allowing us to R&R. We also plan to barrel them through a few surf waves, though the lucky devils have escaped last week's south swell. We're quite excited, actually: nothing matches the pleasure of watching Euros going goggle-eyed at L.A.'s unique urban fabric.
