Oil Town

The stories of oil and Southern California are intimately intertwined: derricks can be spotted all over the place, ready to be reactivated when commodity prices are right. They reach all the way into L.A.'s inner neighborhoods -- in plain sight, or "lurking in malls, schools and nondescript office buildings," as Curbed LA reminds us, referring to VBS.tv's excellent vignette on yet another fascinating part of L.A.'s history: worth watching.
