Another New Yorker Fails To Grasp LA

Says NYT Verlyn Klinkenborg: "Something escapoes me about Los Angeles. Wherever I go, I always imagine I'm finally going to grasp its essence." Essence? The answer is in LAist's comments, e.g., "Leave it to a New Yorker to imagine that a 1200-square-mile metropolitan area with snow-capped mountains, sandy beaches and all the diffferent things that 12 million people do in between can somehow be reduced to a single 'essence.'"
