Gypset Living

Belying the overall real estate debacle, the million-dollar trailers on SoCal beaches are alive and well. As Vanity Fair writes, "The hippest neighborhood in Malibu right now is a trailer park." Not that it's news: Paradise Cove has been hip since pioneers like Sam Peckinpah and Otis Chandler -- all the way to today's A-list actors, artists, writers, surfers, and other trustafarians. Prices still fetch multimillion dollar figures, with tricked-out, double-wide abodes bearing no relationship to their poor trailer trash cousins. Call it the "gypset" crowd.
