L.A. is a mixed salad all right, with 224 different languages reported spoken, celebrating diversity. Our corner shop owner is Latino, my hairdresser Italian, the mani-pedi Vietnamese, the carpet cleaner Jamaïcan, the local deli Chinese, the car repair Armenian, the grocery cashier Norwegian, the UPS driver Togolese. There's also the Tex-Mex called Casablanca, the Turkish deli called Milano, the Cuban restaurant called Versailles, ...Crazy -- and deeply fun.
