Pill Popping

Speak French - Immediately
This sachet is part of a collection by French Canadian artist Dana Wyse. Designed to "cure" the little ailments and desires of life, Wyse's creations promise instant creativity, seduction, fame, sex change, blondness, or simply understanding your mother.

Do they work? Some people are sufficiently "gullible" to think so. According to Wyse, most people recognize them as gadgets -- but some believe that the pills are real. She heard stories of people who swallow them or snort the powders. A man called her once about the pills guaranteeing heterosexual children. His wife was pregnant. Would she be able to promise that his son wouldn't be gay?

Is it art? Wyse assures that real collectors and museums buy them as art objects. It's certainly humor. And at $6 a pop, it's definitely a great marketing concept.

As for learning French, it will have be the hard way -- as always.
