Another thing that struck me when I moved to Southern California is the gigantic size of its full moons, particularly in the Fall.
It can be pretty spooky -- especially when the moon turns into a fire ball that fills the horizon. Hence eerie visions such as in this picture, taken last week by Karen Tapia-Andersen for the LAT. Standing in Commerce [L.A.], she caught this jetliner seemingly flying over the moon at sunset.
