He was playing the most beautiful post-war jazz in a shabby car park in downtown Ventura -- tucked between his handicapped van and a staircase raking of, well, car park smell. Though he elegantly declined to say, it was obvious that he was guerilla-playing in the car park because the City had driven him away from the streets. He said that he plays in this dirty, dark corner every Friday and Saturday night.
