Peeking At London From New York

Say hello to your friends in London -- or vice versa.
This giant telectroscope, installed until June 15 near New York's Brooklyn Bridge and on the banks of the Thames in London, will allow peek-a-boo amateurs to connect visually with each other. "Hardly anyone knows that a secret tunnel runs deep beneath the Atlantic Ocean," says the website. "In May 2008, more than a century after it was begun, the tunnel has finally been completed. An extraordinary optical device called a Telectroscope has been installed at both ends which miraculously allows people to see right through the Earth from London to New York." Quite an amazing feat -- but what's the difference with a webcam, except for the Jules Vernes look?
