Stairway To The Sky

"Ascent," a public art commission by Kim Yasuda made of cast iron shoes that wrap around the Cherokee Whitley Parking staircase on Hollywood and Cherokee. Yasuda took inspiration from Hollywood's Astaire/Rogers musical extravaganzas of the 1940s; and from sequential imaging photographer Eadweard Muybridge, whose work was the precursor to the motion-picture process.
