Run Baby Run

Thought you had enough to do at work as is?How about introducing a treadmill to the mix? According to the NYT, a growing number of "desk jockeys" are turning to the treadmill desk developed by Mayo Clinic endocrinologist Dr. James Levine. "Without breaking a sweat, the so-called work-walker can burn an estimated 100-130 calories an hour at speeds slower than two miles an hour."

Proponents also argue that, far from being a distraction, treadmill desks improve coordination, while taking care of your inner A.D.D. Somehow it's not convincing. The whole set-up rather resembles processing belts in salughterhouses. An apt metaphor, perhaps.
