Let Them Eat Pumpkin!

British author Peter Mayle wrote an amusing Op-Ed in the NYT on how the French adopted the Celtic-by-way-of-America celebration of alowine. Like with Mayle and France, it wasn't love at first sight, but all eventually, and blissfully, surrendered -- with la différence: no flesh-tossing "simply to provide a primitive decoration" in France; the flesh shall be cooked! How about pumpkin fritters, pumpkin & apple sauce, or Toulouse-Lautrec's gratin of pumpkin? Better still, Madame Firogoule's pumpkin risotto, whose recipe Mayle provides?
