Last weekend and for the first time, I visited the Santa Monica Pier Carrousel. It's like the Eiffel Tower when you live in Paris -- you only visit it with visitors.
It turns out that the carrousel was used in numerous movies. Remember The Sting? When Robert Redford arrives in "Chicago" and goes through a carrousel before meeting a seriously blasted Paul Newman? It was the Santa Monica carrousel.Redford, a Santa Monica native, batted to save the Santa Monica Pier, which was scheduled to be destroyed at the time.
Sometimes, you should not ignore obvious landmarks...
On a related note, it's more magical to put your kid on a carrousel than on a real life, suffering pony.
