Enter At Your Own Risk

Slime is back. Again. The Santa Monica bay suffered yet another sewage spill last week, which meant beach closures for three days. According to a LA County auditor-controller report released this week, close to 12 million gallons of raw sewage spilled into the ocean in the past five years -- 90% of which never recorded. The spills seem to have worsened in 2006. This didn't prevent determined surfers from paddling through the slime, but knowing how long it takes for currents to clean the bay, maybe we'll skip the swim-surf for a while. [via SMDP] [related]
