Skateboard Mama

Liz Bevington, aka Skateboard Mama, can be spotted every day rollerblading or windskating between Santa Monica and Venice Beach. A feisty, super fit octogenarian whose MySpace page lists her as a "Beach Bum," Skateboard Mama moved to the U.S. after WW2 to escape the boredom of farmland Germany. Her husband passed away a few years ago and she was ready to follow him when her grandchildren put her on skates. A passion was born. Skateboard Mama has now become a fixture of Venice Beach, breezing through the Boardwalk or defying traffic in her customized red Mini Cooper. She totally rocks. A poster babe for all those 80-somethings who think that life, and fun, is over.
